The 2027 Toyota Highlander marks the arrival of the fifth generation
completely reimagining the nameplate as Toyota’s first fully battery-electric (BEV) three-row SUV in North America. Revealed in February 2026, it replaces the previous gas and hybrid models with a dedicated electric platform.
Performance & Range
The 2027 Highlander offers two battery options and configurations tailored for different range and power needs:
Battery Options: Choose between a 77.0-kWh battery (standard) or a 95.8-kWh "Extended Range" battery.
Driving Range: The 95.8-kWh AWD models offer a manufacturer-estimated range of up to 320 miles (511 km). The 77.0-kWh FWD model provides approximately 287 miles (458 km).
Power: AWD models deliver up to 338 horsepower and 323 lb-ft of torque, while FWD models offer 221 hp.
Charging: Equipped with a North American Charging System (NACS) port, it can charge from 10% to 80% in roughly 30 minutes at a DC fast-charging station.
