RBS (Regenerative braking system) joins ABS( Anti-lock Braking System) as standard. The 992 Porsche is a beautiful and rather functional iteration of the staid, steady and easily recognised Porsche 911 automotive design heritage. It has four functional seats, a rear engine design and all the new gadgetry. The 992 is missing a full manual or semi manual 6-8 speed shifter. There may be some semi-automatic technology on the way as proposed by an Egyptian born in the West Indies to aid us in maintaining our "manual feel" stick shift nostalgia in a more fully electronic age. That suggestion will give us the manual feel gear shifting with at least the five step gear box pattern using fully electronic gear management and transmission with a functioning placebo clutch pedal. The 5 or 8 point manual style semi automatic electronic gear shifter is preferred over a tip up and tip down centre console semi automatic shifter. Paddle shifters on the steering wheel remain standard. But, in our electronic age, where is the non-plug in hybrid version of the 992 that is now being proposed here officially? With a non-plug in hybrid fuel management system, the 992 will bring the 911 fully into the modern age of engineering and the current minimum specifications in automotive design standards that must include the non-plug in hybrid power and fuel management system along with the revolutionary ABS system, for example. ABS became a standard feature on most cars only a few decades ago.* The plug-in is redundant while a fully self-regenerative non-plug in, all-electric vehicle is already on the market; the Taycan. Without the non-plug-in hybrid, the vehicle is on the wrong side of automotive technological evolution. We look forward to the 992 hybrid. This photo was taken at the Honda Indy in 2019.
