American car designers have tended to build vehicles that are an expression of their urban and rural landscape. This is so in spite of the marvels of the 1950's and 60's Corvette and the early Ford Mustang. This is so while they build vehicles that do not match their ultimate capability as evidenced in the GM designs that originate at General Motors of Europe and that are marketed under the names Opel and Vauxhall. This could change and help the company save thousands in the cost of materials and production. The truth is that America imports more vehicles for sale than the vehicles they actually manufacture domestically.
