Volkswagen Hybrid powertrains. Who would not want the mild hybrid/ MHEV? Is it now the standard engine offering for all Volkswagen vehicles?
VolkswagenHybrid powertrains.
Volkswagen offers the Golf01 and Passat0203 as GTE versions with a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain. Thanks to a battery that can be charged externally, they can be driven for 50 km in the pure electric mode. Volkswagen will be electrifying its entire passenger car fleet going forward. A key role is to be played by a 48V mild hybrid (mHEV) powertrain. In this case, Volkswagen is combining the internal combustion engine with a 48-V belt-integrated starter generator and a 48-V battery – a low-cost gateway to the world of hybrid models. The 48-V mild hybrid (mHEV) makes it possible to “coast” with the internal combustion engine completely switched off, saving up to 0.4 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers. In addition, the mHEV provides an electric boost, offering enhanced dynamics and convenience.
